  • Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re new to acupuncture or integrative sports medicine, you probably have questions. We’re here to answer them.

What Makes AcuElite Different From Other Acupuncture Clinics?

AcuElite combines orthopedic acupuncture, movement assessment, exercise therapy, nutrition coaching, and lifestyle medicine into a structured three phase system. Rather than simply treating symptoms, our goal is to identify and address the root causes limiting your recovery, health, and performance.

Do I Need To Be An Athlete To Work With AcuElite?

Not at all. While many of our patients are athletes and active individuals, we also help people dealing with chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, stress-related conditions, and long-term health concerns. Our process is adapted to your goals and current level of activity.

What Conditions Do You Treat?

We help patients with pain and injuries, digestive concerns, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, sleep issues, metabolic health challenges, recurring injuries, and performance goals. Visit our What We Treat page for a complete list.

What Happens During My First Visit?

Your first visit includes:

-A comprehensive 90 minute evaluation

-A clear diagnosis and phase placement

-Acupuncture treatment

-Soft tissue or mobility work (if needed)

-A personalized treatment plan

You'll leave knowing what's happening in your body and how we'll help you.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Most people feel little to no discomfort. You may feel a mild, warm, heavy, or tingling sensation — all normal signs that the treatment is working. Acupuncture should never feel sharp or intense.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Yes. Acupuncture is extremely safe when performed by a licensed professional using sterile, single-use needles.

Side effects are rare and mild, such as slight soreness or temporary fatigue.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Every case is different. Some patients notice meaningful improvements after their first treatment, while chronic or complex conditions often require a series of visits. During your initial evaluation, we’ll discuss your goals and provide clear recommendations based on your situation.

What Should I Bring to My First Appointment?

For the best experience, please bring:

-Comfortable clothing that allows access to your arms, legs, and back

-Any recent imaging reports (X-ray, MRI, CT) and blood work

-A list of current medications or supplements

-Your completed intake forms (if not submitted online)

And most importantly come well-hydrated and ready to relax.

Your first visit is designed to be thorough, comfortable, and tailored to your goals.

Can Acupuncture Even Help if I've Already Tried Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, or Injections?

Yes. Many patients come to AcuElite after trying physical therapy, chiropractic care, injections, medications, or other treatments without lasting success. Our approach combines acupuncture with movement assessment, soft tissue therapy, exercise strategies, and lifestyle medicine to address factors that may have been missed.

Can AcuElite Help With Health Conditions Beyond Pain?

Yes. While many people first discover us for pain relief, we also work with digestive issues, sleep disturbances, fatigue, hormone-related conditions, metabolic dysfunction, stress-related symptoms, and overall health optimization.

    How Long is Each Session?

    Initial visit: 90 minutes

    Follow-up visits: 60 minutes

Do You Offer Cupping, Gua Sha, or Other Modalities?

Yes. When clinically appropriate, your treatment may include:

    -Cupping

    -Gua Sha

    -Electrical stimulation acupuncture

    -Mobility work

    -Exercise therapy

    -Nutrition therapy

    What Should I Wear?

Comfortable, loose clothing that allows access to your lower legs, arms, abdomen, and mid-back.

What Does A Treatment Feel Like?

Most people feel deeply relaxed, calm, warm, or pleasantly heavy during treatment.

Some even fall asleep — a great sign your nervous system is resetting.

What Are Your Three Phases of Care?

      1. Recover: Reduce pain, heal injuries, restore movement

      2. Restore: Balance digestion, hormones, metabolism, sleep, stress

      3. Optimize: Elevate performance, strength, endurance, mobility, and recovery

This system gives you a clear roadmap for healing instead of guessing.

    Do I Need a Referral?

    No. You can book directly.

    Do You Accept Insurance?

AcuElite is a private-pay practice. This allows us to provide individualized care without insurance restrictions. If eligible, we can provide a super-bill that may be submitted for out-of-network reimbursement.

Can I Use HSA or FSA Funds?

Yes — Most HSA/FSA plans cover acupuncture and related medical services.

Check with your provider to ensure coverage.

What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?

Credit/debit card, HSA/FSA, and other standard payment methods.

    What Is Your Cancelation Policy?
